I am first a wife and mother. I have been married to Geoff Julian for 25+ years and we have five children. I am also the founder of the original Big Picture Classes, which I launched as a way to share additional projects and principles featured in my book, The Big Picture (published in 2005, by Simple Scrapbooks) I took my first scrapbooking class in 1994 at Paper Hearts in Salt Lake City, Utah. I discovered paper crafting at a D.O.T.S. (now Close To My Heart) party in 1993 (we were living in Chicago, IL). After making my very first card with rainbow ink on glossy paper, I was hooked and signed up to be a demonstrator. In June 1994 we moved to Utah and I attended my first stamping convention, which absolutely blew my mind! I "retired" from CTMH in 1996 when I was told that a malignant tumor in my leg had returned. My doctor told me I needed to slow down (yeah, right!) In 1996 I started teaching moonlight madness classes once or twice a month and began studying design as it might apply to scrapbooking. I discovered principles that were helping me and those that attended these crops, so I approached my friend Terina about helping me write an idea book. She said yes, and we self published Core Composition in June 1997. I signed up to teach a class at the first gathering of the Preservation Society, where I was fortunate to meet Don Lambson, who with Lisa Bearnson had just launched Creating Keepsakes magazine. I began making pages and writing articles for CK and In 2000 I was invited to write a book called Simple Scrapbooks. In 2001, Primedia purchased Creating Keepsakes and I was invited to help start Simple Scrapbooks magazine. When I dreamed up BPC with my partners Paula Wessels and Kayce Rehn, we had no idea what it would grow to become. Over these many years I have grown to love the editorial process and the opportunity to teach what I do and love, but most of all I have treasured the friendships I have made. I'm excited to live the next chapter in my story as it unfolds.
