Required Supplies
Do you have all your supplies? Use this checklist to be sure you're not missing anything you'll need!

Acrylic paints Acrylic paints are the most basic way to create a colorful background. Choose your favorite colors from any brand.

Permanent black and white pens (Posca or Sharpie) When adding doodling or text on an art journal page you need to use permanent pens to avoid smearing or bleeding and ensure crisp and clear lines.

Stencils Stencils are a great way to add patterns to the page. Use any size of stencil and any pattern design you like.

Ink Spray Sprays are a versatile medium to cover large areas of the page with color. They blend easily to create additional colors. They give a semi transparent look to the background. Use sprays with or without shimmer.

Stamps Using stamps enables you to add images, patterns and text to your page. Use any size or material you want.

Paper scraps Use the papers in your stash to create a collage on your art journal page. Use different types of papers to create the background, add design elements and write words.

Washi or masking tape Add extra details and texture to your art journal page with different washi tapes or masking tape.

Permanent Ink When stamping on an art journal page use permanent ink to avoid smearing or bleeding and make sure your stamped image or text is clear and complete. You'll need black, white ad other colors.

Distress Ink Use distress ink for blending and shadowing on the page. You'll need a dark color like black or brown.

Art Journal I like to use the Dylusions art journal. You can use any size you feel comfortable with. If you don't want to commit to an entire art journal you can create the pages on heavy watercolor paper.

Tissue paper Thin tissue paper is added as a patterned background to art journal pages. You can tear it, cut it, layer it, color it and more. It's a very versatile material.
