Hello!
This
is Elizabeth Dillow for Big Picture Scrapbooking and I'm
thrilled to have the opportunity to offer a companion
class to my book, The Scrapbooker's Almanac. In that book,
my contributors and I showcased 103 scrapbook pages and
projects that were inspired by red letter days--an old
term dating back to medieval times to signify important
dates on the calendar.
We
all have ideas for Christmas and Halloween, Easter and
the 4th of July--but what about all the other celebrations
out there? Historical events, anniversaries, and observances
provide order and meaning to our lives, and every time
those dates come around each year they're just screaming
to be turned into meaningful scrapbook pages. Arbor Day?
Julia Child's birthday? National Family Week? Even...
the invention of zip codes?? Absolutely. I'll help you
discover hundreds of ways to find inspiration hidden in
the calendar. If you haven't read my book yet, don't worry.
While this class will spend some time focusing on some
of the projects found inside, it is not required reading.
Highly encouraged reading, maybe, but then I'm a little
biased.
During
our four weeks together, I have some exciting things in
store for you: a behind-the-scenes look at some of the
pages and albums featured in my book, new variation projects,
a reunion of book contributors Laura Kurz, Mi'Chelle Larsen,
Mary MacAskill, Anna Aspnes, and Margaret Scarbrough who
will be sharing five of their brand-new pages and some
of their favorite sources for inspiration, an interview
with an award-winning illustrator and children's book
author, a few fun giveaways, journaling starters and album
schemes, daily emails, and so many new ideas for finding
and using red letter days that your head will spin with
excitement in anticipation of your next available opportunity
to scrapbook. Well, I hope it will. That's my plan.
Mark
your calendars and register today! This is big!
