Hi there! I’m Claudine Hellmuth, and I can't tell you how excited I am to share my new workshop with you at Big Picture Classes: Composition for Collage. I have developed this class much like my popular Composition class that I have taught all over the US, Canada and even in Italy – now brought to you in an online format!

Let me tell you a little background. When I was in art college getting my BFA degree, we had very rigorous training in the fundamentals. We took 2 years of classes in composition. Yes 2 years! Composition is that important!

I have boiled down various methods, gleaned from my art college days, and developed surefire tools for creating strong compositions in your projects. These methods are easy to learn and quick to implement, so you will be making professional looking collages by the end of the first week. I promise!

Each week I will go over a new composition method by video and slideshow, you’ll have images to download and practice with. (And did I mention there is no supply list for this class? You already have everything you need!)

Post your finished (and in progress) projects in the gallery and I will offer advice and tips. And it won’t be long before you discover how easy it is – and by using just a few new techniques, great compositions practically create themselves!

In case you're not familiar with me, I’m an artist, author and illustrator. I graduated from the Corcoran College of Art and Design in 1997 with a BFA in painting. I have been working full time as an artist since 2001: teaching workshops, writing books creating custom artworks and also working in illustration and licensing. I have a product line with Ranger of paints and mediums that I am also excited to share with you!

So whether you are a scrapbooker making the transition to mixed media work, or have been creating altered artwork for some time, you will find the investment in this class will give back to you for the rest of your creative life!
