Hi there, this is Nic Howard for Big Picture Scrapbooking and I am so pleased to be able to tell you about my new workshop — Colour! I'm excited about it - it's fun, it's based around colour and filled with technique and design and all the exciting colour theory I could pack in there!

Ok let's get serious —- I have a question. Has it ever occurred to you why so many fast-food restaurants use red in their promotions? Think of some of the fast-food places you are familiar with: red, red, red! That is because red is exciting, it's impulsive, it gives us the feeling of speed, energy and vibrancy and it is HOT! As consumers, we don't even realize we are being sent these messages, yet we are. Imagine one of your favourite fast-food eateries in a pale pastel blue or pink. It's just not the same, right?

And did you know that every single colour of the rainbow affects us in different ways. Our quick look at the colour red has shown us just how persuasive a colour it can be, but have you ever thought about the other colours? Consider now, how knowing more about the colours around us would improve your scrapbooking.

Alrighty — now I'm figuring a few things. If you are listening to this audio —- curious to find out more about this workshop — then I'm fairly sure that: firstly you are probably a scrapbooker or at very least are in love with paper and adhesive OR the digital equivalent of those; and secondly, you are probably curious about how the wonderful creative world of colour can improve your projects.

To these two things, I say PERFECT!!! You and I are going to get on just wonderfully. That would be because a) I'm in love with coloured papers and glue also and b) I have a whole PILE of tips, techniques, how-tos, demonstrations, challenges, step-by steps and all that kind of stuff to help you understand this gorgeous world of colour around us. The rainbow is an amazing piece of art and knowing more about it is going to make scrapbooking even more fun!

Here is a little bit more about why you might want to sign up.

  1. Because I have created a class that concentrates on the creative use of colour as well as technique - I love teaching technique, I know students have loved my technique workshops in the past, and what better idea than to pair it with learning about colour!! Perfect!

  2. Because I have a lot to show you. Those of you that have joined in on my workshops before know just how much content I pack in, and this Colour workshop is no exception! Reviews from my past workshops have been amazing and I thrive on the enjoyment that others find in what I do.

  3. I love an interactive workshop. Let's hang out! And I'm not just saying that, I truly am visible throughout the workshop, I will do everything possible to be available to you on the message board, commenting in the gallery, chatting with you at pre-determined times and answering emails in order to make this a positive experience. I will be there throughout the whole process. One of my favourite parts of teaching is the student teacher interaction; this is totally available through Big Picture Scrapbooking!

  4. Scrapbooking with your stash! This is a chance to use up some of your supplies. None of the projects in this class require the use of specific products. Instructions are given for a variety of projects, and although many of them will have specific supply lists if you want to use them, I encourage you to use the products you have. There will be tips and techniques throughout the workshop to help you along your way. Pair this with being able to use the products you already have there - a perfect recipe for success!

  5. My workshops are all no guilt, no pressure, let's just get together and have a whole lot of fun while learning a whole lot too, type workshops! While I aim to bombard you with exciting stuff to do, your participation each week will not depend on whether you get the previous weeks assignments done. You can miss out a week and catch up later. You can participate as little or as much as you like and I am always available to help you out if you need it!

  6. Giveaways, sponsored techniques and prizes! I'm so proud to have the support of some of my favourite manufacturers. From Sassafras Lass, to Jilli-Bean Soup and Prima Marketing. I have a lot of support for giveaways and weekly draws from those that upload their projects to the gallery.

  7. This workshop can go on forever. Well, maybe not forever, but the fun part about Big Picture Scrapbooking is that the sharing and inspiration carries on long after the workshop is officially over. As always, the content of this workshop will be downloadable, so you can participate in all the message board and gallery fun and interaction, or work at your own pace. It's entirely up to you.

One of the benefits of this class is that it is multi-faceted. Sure, we are going to learn a lot about the rainbow and how to use all it's gorgeous hues in our scrapbooking, but it doesn't stop there, I'm going to step you through fun techniques and create stuff with you too. From start to finish, we are going to break down pages and work on the smaller things. Whether you go ahead and apply these techniques to wildly extravagant pages or whether you use these techniques as smaller detail on more simple pages; that will be up to you. Pair this with becoming a colour expert and you are on to a winner!

So. Are you curious? Are you ready to get going? Come join me. This colour workshop is going to be incredibly rewarding. Together we can visit all the colours of the rainbow while learning some exciting techniques. You'll walk away with a fresh new way of thinking and plenty of inspiration to scrapbook using newly learnt techniques for months to come... I can't wait to have you join me - this is BIG!
