Hey
everyone! It's Donna Downey here. I'm thrilled to be bringing
you the anchor leg of 2010's 4-Experts at Big Picture.
It's
awesome to be back. I was actually the very first teacher
to do workshops for Big Picture when they first launched
the site, and to be a part of such an amazing lineup of
teachers for 2010 is an absolute treat for me.
I'm
going to be doing fabric, and I get what I think is the
best time of the year, the last quarter, so I get the
holidays. I get to do all kinds of fabric goodness with
that season.
So
if you're thinking
Oh, Donna, fabric? I don't sew!
then
this is the workshop for you.
If
you're thinking
I've got tons of fabric that I don't
know what to do with
then this is the workshop for
you.
If
you're thinking
Um, I'm afraid of fabric
then
this is the workshop for you, because my whole focus is
to integrate something that we all own. We all own fabric,
whether it's a pair of jeans that obviously shrunk in
the dryer, or if it's the fact that we've just been collecting
fabric because it has beautiful patterns, or if it's just
that you know you have old sheets that you can't throw
away and you're not sure why, then this is the class for
you.
What
we're going to do is we're going to take things that I
know you already have and maybe mix it up with some things
that you might want to have, and learn tons of techniques
that cross over several genres of craft being scrapbooking
and art and mixed media, and possibly even some sculptural
stuff with fabrics. So, what I want you to do is to answer
a couple of these questions, and if you can answer yes
to them, then you have to take this class.
Do
you own glue? Perfect! See, I knew you all would own glue,
because it's not about sewing. We're going to be using
glue for a lot of this stuff, and yet maybe once in a
while I'll take out the sewing machine, but I know you
have fingers and a needle and thread so that will work
too.
Do
you appreciate texture? Texture is a good thing. Fabrics
are all about texture and the ways we're going to use
it.
How
about color? If you like color, then this is another reason
why you should take this class, because with those three
things, we're going to be able to pull off some amazing
projects that don't require a whole lot of time, they
just require a new way of looking at things, and that's
what my class will be all about
introducing a new
way of thought.
So,
I'm so excited for 2010, and I'm so looking forward to
making projects to tantalize you.
