 Desert Rat, married to my best friend for 39+ years. Blessed with 3 kids, 5 remarkably gifted, intelligent and stunningly beautiful grandkids. Perpetual dieter, diagnosed with type II diabetes 3 years ago. Became a vegan this year - looks like I am living up to all those hippie aspirations I had in the early '70's. Eventually I settled on being a vegetarian who eats eggs, cheese, yogurt and milk.

 I am semi-tech savvy: I have an iMac, photoshop elements, iphone that will whip my butt, a digital camera, an iPod and a Nook Touch ebook reader. I am a semi-retired office assistant. I work at a local non- profit, grace based homeless shelter and life restoration program called the Gospel Rescue Mission.  I used to cook a lot-home made bread, cake, cookies, fabulous stews and roasts, blah blah blah, but now that we are entering our aged decreptitude, I tend to cook a lot of veggies and brown rice. I pull out all the stops when the grandkids are coming over, and my (well, my momma's) recipe for gingersnaps is killer. She would turn over in her grave if she knew I had become a vegetarian. No tattoos yet, though.
