Hello,
my name is Piradee Talvanna.
I am 34
years old and am currently living in Singapore with my dearest
hubby with our two goldfish. I'm originally from Bangkok,
Thailand but both my husband and I relocated to Singapore
for work, about 4 years ago when we had gotten married (hubby
is originally from Belgium; opposite ends of the world, right?).
I have
been "really into" scrapbooking for about the same
amount of time since moving to Singapore (4 years ago); and
it was in Singapore that I first learnt about scrapbooking
after having accidentally stumbled into a shop filled with
all these gorgeous papers and embellishments (needless to
say, you can now always find me at my LSS). I've always had
a soft stop for stationery/craft products and would say that
I've been a crafty person ever since I was young; always creating
something and on top of that, love taking pictures of wherever
I go.
I started
scrapbooking because I found that the creating process helps
me de-stress after a long day at the office, and I truly enjoy
working with all the beautiful papers and embellishments (I'm
like a little kid in a candy store when I'm at my local scrapbook
store or when working with the various collections/products).
And on top of it all, it allows me to capture my memories
in a crafty personalized way (definitely beats a plain photo
album for me).
I generally
scrapbook about 3 - 4 times a week (not necessary completing
that many layouts/projects - a super slow scrapper here) and
I find/make the time by scheduling in some "my time"
within the day/week. Most of the time, you can find me at
my scrapping table for about an hour or so, in the evenings
after work as I slowly wind down from a long day in the office.
I find that the creating process really helps me loosen up
and along the way I get to create something gorgeous. Even
when I'm traveling for work, I can't resist bringing along
some scrapping supplies and squeezing in a few minutes here
and there.
I find
I am most often inspired to make a page because of the products
themselves. It might be the colors in the collection or maybe
a certain pattern or design or even an embellishment.
One of
my go-to techniques is: layering. I absolutely can't get enough
of the dimensional effect and creating my little cluster of
elements.
I could
NOT scrapbook without the following products/tools:
- My
trusted circle cutter and circle punches
- My
must have Fiskars trimmer
- My
go to mist - Studio Calico White
- My
bottle of wonder glue - Beacon 3 in1 Liquid Glue
- Tons
of foam dots (love layering and popping elements)
- I
don't know why, but I'm always reaching for white or kraft
cardstock
- My
can't create without EK Success Pro ruler (everything needs
to be straight)
- And
of course, all the gorgeous patterned papers and embellishments
out there!
How
has engaging in the creative process changed your life?
I've never been one to write a lot and am a visual person
and have tons of memories that I would like to capture. So
scrapbooking has allowed me to translate my words into a project
and plus I just love the process of creating and working with
all these gorgeous products.
How
and where do you store/display your completed pages?
I have a dedicated area on my wall to showcase a few of my
completed layouts; otherwise the layouts are careful filed
away in plastic sleeves on the shelves or in albums.
What
page size do you generally scrap?
Most of the time I would create a 12" x 12" layout
(either one page or two pages) but at times I like to also
challenge myself to working with smaller areas such as 8 1/2"
x 11" or 6" x 8".
How
often do you create multi-photo layouts?
I find myself more and more creating layouts with more than
one photo, especially when working with two page layouts or
just having returned from a trip.
What
is your favorite photography App?
I pretty much use Rollip
on almost of my photos. I just love the array of photo effects
that they provide and the quality is wonderful.
Which
is your favorite adhesive?
My all time must have adhesive is Beacon 3 in1 Glue - I pretty
much use this for everything! Then next to that, its American
Crafts & EK Success foam dots.
