Ordinary Defined
Do you ever feel like your ordinary life is too boring for a scrapbook page? Getting up, getting ready, heading off to work, home again to watch TV and go to bed...the next day starting over again. It's easy to reduce life to this mundane thing. Oftentimes we fail to recognize that while our lives may be routine and ordinary, they are unique.
It's not the routines of our lives that make it life - it's the spaces in between.
The funny phrases and inside jokes that you hear in your everyday life are different from everyone else's. These are the things that make your ordinary life different from those around you. They're the types of things that make your life interesting! Have you spent time documenting these things before they're forgotten?
In this class, you will create a project that will help you tune into that uniqueness and capture little bits of your everyday life simply by listening. Using a Rolodex and supplies that you have on hand, you'll create a simple conversation piece that will help you appreciate your unique, interesting, ordinary life. After working on this project, you'll find that you look at your ordinary life in a new light. You'll be inspired to tell more stories of everyday life and appreciate the ordinary.

A Note from Amy:
I'm a scrapbooker and storyteller with a pretty ordinary life. I truly believe that ordinary can be a great thing when you stop to appreciate it. I really have a heart for helping others tell their own story of their everyday life. My husband and I both met here in the town where we live and work back when we were in college. I helped Stacy Julian teach the previous session of Finding Photo Freedom and love participating in classes here. I was previously published in Simple Scrapbook's special Digital Scrapbooking issue. I also owned and ran the website The Old Front Porch. I believe that whether you create with paper or a computer, we're all scrapbookers with valuable ordinary stories to tell. |
