the journaling says: The plan for Christmas 2009 was to give gifts that were homemade. I had trouble coming up with an idea for our brother-in-law John - until I talked to Lujean - and she said he would be more than happy with cookies. His favorites - oatmeal raisin, peanut butter & snickerdoodles. While I was looking through the recipe box, I came across one of our family’s favorites, anise cookies. I called to see if he would like these too, but licorice is one of the only things he doesn’t like, but Lujean asked if I had ever heard of a plain cookie whose ingredients included sour cream, it was a cookie that John’s grandmother used to make for him, and Lujean had never been able to find a recipe. It happens that a sour cream roll out cookie is one of my sister’s specialties. I made her recipe and it turned out to be the one he remembered from his youth.
