Claudine Answers the Five W's
Actually there are ten W's and two H's, but who's counting?
Who are you? I'm Claudine Hellmuth! I'm 38! I love animals
and I love to make things! And I love to use exclamation points!!!
Who has inspired you, personally or professionally, to be
who you are? That's too hard to answer! I really feel
like I'm making up my career as I go along, so there's no
mentor or person for me that I am modeling myself after.
What do you believe with all of your heart? That everyone
is creative!
What do you teach, write, blog, and talk incessantly about?
Creating!
When did you get your start? I began my career as a full
time artist in 2001 when I got laid off from my day job as
a website designer. But my art career goes all the way back
to toddlerhood when I would play with finger paints, then
in grade school and high school when I took after-school art
lessons, and finally in college where I got my BFA degree.
When did you know that this was your path? I've always
known I would be creative and that would be some part of my
career. There was never a lightbulb moment where I decided,
"I'm going to be an artist." It just was always
understood.
Where is your favorite place on earth? My home! I am a
total homebody. I have to be dragged out of the house to travel
for work or for play.
Where do you go to be inspired? I read, I watch movies,
I nap! All the usual stuff. I think the most important thing
when I am feeling uninspired is to get off the Internet and
stop comparing myself and my work to other people, get in
my cocoon, and know that the inspiration will come again!
Why are you here at BPC? I love BPC, it's a great place
to be able to share my classes and get to stay at home at
the same time! I love being able to connect with students
through the online class format. I've created real, lasting
connections with many of my students, that even years after
my first class with BPC, we are still in touch! I love that!
Why do you love your life? I get to nap a lot! No seriously,
I have an amazing husband, wonderful pets, and I get to make
stuff every day. I am totally lucky, and I know that every
day.
How do you do everything you do? Even though I love to
nap, I do work long hours. One of the (tiny) drawbacks of
working from home means that I work pretty much all the time.
It's rare I take a day off, but when you love what you do,
that's not so bad at all!

blog or my website, claudinehellmuth.com.
I'm also really active on twitter (@collageartist) and Facebook

Her
Favorite Photo

This is a picture of our cat Mabel who loves to sit up
like a person. We love this photo so much we asked an artist
to turn it into a painting.
Her Favorite Project

My favorite project right now is this image from my dollhouse
project. I love miniatures, and I have so much fun drawing
figures and putting them in my dollhouse for little photo
shoots!
