[ TrishaH
] hey, just seeing when they are having chats
[ Alexandra Mathias ] Hi
[ NonaZ ] Hi there. Just checking in early
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I have missed every chat so far. I'm in Europe,
so time is an issue : )
[ NonaZ ] Good that you are here. I often forget to get on since
I am on the east coast
[ pennyscraps ] Morning! Got my coffee and Josh Groban is here singing
with us too! ;-)
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I got a glass of wine....but then again it's
4pm over here : )
[ NonaZ ] It is a 3 hour time difference here
[ Alexandra Mathias ] So you have to get up super early, right?
[ NonaZ ] It is 9:39 AM here
[ NonaZ ] Have any of you done this before?
[ pennyscraps ] LOM or chat? Never LOM before but this will be my
4th chat I think.
[ NonaZ ] LOM or get up early??
[ Alexandra Mathias ] 1st time LOM, 1st chat for me
[ NonaZ ] I did LOM last year but haven't done too much on it this
year yet
[ Alexandra Mathias ] is the chat room only for these formal chats
or also for chatting between LOM members on other days?
[ nonnysbooks ] "I'm a novice at LOM<br />
<br />
The trick to the chat is you have to read backwards...new posts
go to the top of the screen."
[ pennyscraps ] chat room is always open
[ Alexandra Mathias ] thanks, pennyscraps
[ NonaZ ] I've done chats in some of the other classes too. I guess
if you could get people in at the same time you could chat
[ pennyscraps ] No prob - I stumbled on that knowledge.
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I finally ordered some albums today....took
me a long time to decide
[ NonaZ ] They only do the transcripts of the official chats
[ NonaZ ] What kind of albums did you get?
[ Molly ] Alexandra - What albums did you choose?
[ artiste ] hi everyone... i'm going to go take a shower but i'll
be back. glad to be here!
[ NonaZ ] I got into the 3 ring ones in Have More Fun and DYL. I
used CM strap hinge before.
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I got 5 black WRMK leather 12x12 and divided
protectors to start out as storage albums and then maybe later become
"regular" albums as time goes on and then I got
1 red leather, 1 orange linen and 1 red linen WRMK...to try out
the colors. I have to ship to Europe so i want to make sure I like
the colors.
[ Alexandra Mathias ] btw....ALEX is fine : ) (somehow it used my
whole name at sign-up)
[ pennyscraps ] Confession - I am a strap hinge gal and unwilling
to convert. I don't have any problem moving the pages around, though.
It's a compromise.
[ NonaZ ] Alex: have you had time to work with them yet?
[ NonaZ ] Penny: I used Pioneer pages in mine for awhile to get
the TL feeling. Never thought I would change
[ NonaZ ] I started with CM and was sooo sold on them
[ Alexandra Mathias ] No...just ordered today. But I have organized
all my old layouts in new piles (US, Places etc.) and put some back
into old binders (AC fabric, CM). I don't mind that they are not
all the same right now.
[ pennyscraps ] WHAT are pioneer pages? I use the sleeves. My pages
are all cardstock based.
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I think she means the pioneer 3-ring protectors
[ NonaZ ] They are TL pages with keyhole-type holes so they fit
in CM albums
[ Molly ] Who's had a chance to listen to Lesson 3 audios?
[ natlhol ] I just watched the slideshow, not listened to the audio.
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I listened to them all...I so love this class.
[ pennyscraps ] Listened to long audio.
[ Molly ] What do you think of photo triage?
[ natlhol ] I'm still working on getting photos into binders. I
have part of 99 done, all of 01 done, and part of 02. That's it.
I haven't even read the L3 handout yet!
[ pennyscraps ] {I think Nona by using the side loading sleeves
for CM that I am getting the same effect as by using the Pioneer
top-loading....}
[ Molly ] natilhol - It's hard to switch from photo organizing mode
isn't it?
[ natlhol ] Yes!!
[ natlhol ] My name is Helen, by the way.
[ pennyscraps ] I self-implemented parts of LOM this summer by reading
Photo Freedom. Photo triage was fun and it does make connections
you wouldn't otherwise see....
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I am also working on my storage binders. But
for me that means printing pics, because so far I only kept my digs
on the harddrive until I scrapped and then printed as needed. My
family is very computer savy, so we look at pics and slideshows
all the time, but I still will print from now on, because it makes
sense.
[ NonaZ ] Yes, Penny. It is nice they came out with them but I was
already using 3- ring by that time.
[ pennyscraps ] Another confession - it IS EXTREMELY HARD TO STOP
on the the organizing thing!! I am having a devil of a time going
from that phase to another....
[ Molly ] "I'd still encourage you to stop (just for a day)
and read and work on Lesson 3. You'll really get a chance to experience
another aspect of the LOM System. <br />
<br />
This is Molly the coach by the way."
[ pennyscraps ] {Nona, I had kinda' stopped putting my LO's into
albums so it was perfect timing for me....}
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I go forward in the class, but once in organizing
mood it's hard to stop for other things, like cleaning and cooking
: )
[ Alexandra Mathias ] Hi Molly
[ Kitty ] "Molly,<br />
When are you all meeting again? I'd love to come.<br />
Kitty"
[ natlhol ] My problem is that my time to work on this is so hit-or-miss.
I only have little bits of time. I'll try to switch modes a bit
this weekend, I promise!
[ pennyscraps ] Yes, Alex - I have a big table set up in guest room
and then who even thinks about laundry or dusting?!
[ AprilFL ] You''ll learn that since organizing is a constant, you
just have to add in other steps; not stop the ones you've been doing.
Keep organizing, but also add in lesson three.
[ AprilFL ] good morning everyone!!
[ pennyscraps ] Morning April
[ NonaZ ] Morning April!
[ Molly ] "Kitty - Saturday, March 20th at 2pm.<br />
<br />
We'd love to have you!"
[ pennyscraps ] I am personally moving forward to 3. It's just hard
to battle this gal in the mirror - she has such entrenched tendencies.
;-)
[ Molly ] Good morning April!
[ Leora ] Good morning all!
[ nonnysbooks ] I'll be moving on to Lesson 3 later this afternoon,
just had to get one more print order in last night to round out
my 5 years of photos in the storage binders
[ AprilFL ] I just started scanning my in-laws photos of when DH
was young as well as his brother . . . getting them out of magnetic
albums. Organizing and making photos safe is never-ending
[ Molly ] nonnysbooks - you get a Gold Star!! 5 years - that's terrific!!
[ stacy julian ] Good Morning LOMers!
[ pennyscraps ] The great thing is we have TWO WEEKS!
[ AprilFL ] good morning, Stacy!
[ natlhol ] Those photos of DH are a gift! My MIL wants to throw
all of hers out!
[ Leora ] April, where are you putting the pics after you take them
out of the magnetic albums?
[ pennyscraps ] Morning teacher! ;-)
[ just jeani ] 'morning one and all
[ Molly ] April - I hear you on that one. I inherited 25 magnetic
albums from my father-in-law!!
[ Molly ] Good morning Stacy!!
[ nessa b. ] morning everyone
[ Kitty ] "Molly,<br />
You're killing me... that's the one weekend in March I have something
planned. I'll have to see how things play out. Are you meeting at
the store?<br />
Kitty"
[ scrapbookgirl71 ] Good morning, Stacy!
[ nonnysbooks ] Well pretty much 5 years...I've put daughter's wedding
pics in a temporary cold storage mode...3 weeks ago her marriage
blew up and went into divorce mode, my desire to scrapbook her wedding
went out the window for now
[ Leora ] My issue with removing from magnetic albums is that my
mother actually wrote the information on the pages themselves. I
hate to lose that part...
[ Ciqi ] Those two-week lessons are terrific! I really need all
the time we get- mostly to get used to new thoughts! :)
[ just jeani ] discovered a treasure trove of heritage photos while
cleaning DH office. Unfortunately they were Xerox copies. Have to
track down the originals and scan
[ stacy julian ] AprilFL -- so good to see you, thank YOU for coming.
I so agree that you can't (and I wouldn't even recommend) trying
to organize/scan, etc.. all of your photos your first time through
this class. I've said it before, but here I go again ... I'd rather
you learn the basics of the system and then introduce additional
photos slowly over time. They've waited this long, they can wait
a little longer!
[ AprilFL ] don't laugh - right now in a box. I haven't found an
album that will give the journaling space for writing AND have seems
all the way across the opening. It's been a search.
[ scrapbookgirl71 ] ...and everyone else!
[ stacy julian ] Hi coach Molly -- is that you? We need to bold
your comments. I'll ask Kayce to do this.
[ just jeani ] Leora - retrieve the photos and then cut out your
mom's captions, spray with archival mist and preserve them along
side - just thing a page that won't need journaling!
[ Molly ] Leora - I had the same issue. After taking the photos
of the page, I cut up the magnetic page, sprayed with archival spray
and attached it to the back of the photo. Sounds like it took a
long time but really it went quickly.
[ stacy julian ] "Leora,<br />
Make color copies of your magnetic albums before removing pictures.
This will preserve the words your mother wrote. You need to rescue
these pictures as soon as possible!"
[ artiste ] i will move on to lesson 3 as soon as i have my 5 years
in binders... shouldn't be too long... most of 2000 and 2001 are
done
[ Leora ] Stacy, thanks so much. I will do that! My mother is gone
and it is so hard for me to take these albums apart...but I know
I must! Thank you!
[ Molly ] Yes - it's me :D)
[ AprilFL ] luckily my mother in law is still around so she can
re-write everything she wrote - if I can find the right album.
[ NonaZ ] It is such a relief now to print pictures and get them
in storage binders and the category drawers
[ nonnysbooks ] Stacy, you are gonna run me ragged, the magnetic
albums are the ones I haven't touched yet.
[ just jeani ] still not completely up to task with tagging etc.
but I'll keep plodding away, little by little
[ just jeani ] last night while watching Olympics I sorted and stored
(into SB) Christmas photos from 2000 - 2007. So happy to have those
done
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I feel the same relief, NonaZ : ) I did scrap
almost 10 pages since putting even just the last quarter in storage
pages : )
[ vanessa23 ] I feel like I'm falling really behind. I only have
digital pictures for the past 7 years and it's taking me forever
to get them sorted/purged because my date stamp was off on the camera.
I haven't even thought about tagging.
[ stacy julian ] We have two full weeks for lesson 3 this year,
so you all have time to prepare your storage binders and get a good
hold on photo triage -- even if your not ready to start pulling
pictures yet, listen to the audios and watch the presentation --
get the information and ideas into your head, so you can be processing
it all!
[ pennyscraps ] I agree, Nona, that the BONES of this system are
WONDERFUL and giving me hope, a goal, and accountability!
[ scrapbookgirl71 ] I may not go back and tag until we're done.
It seems like a step that can wait while I get the basics in place.
[ artiste ] way to go, just jeani!
[ Kitty ] "Stacy,<br />
Do you tag photos in iphoto after you've put them in the chronological
smart albums, or is that where you stop on the digital stuff?<br
/>
Kitty"
[ Molly ] Stacy - what advice do you have for students who says,
"as soon as I [complete 5 years, print pictures, etc] I'll
move on to Lesson 3" ?
[ stacy julian ] scrapbookgirl71 - you can wait!
[ AprilFL ] nonnysbooks - focus on learning the system first; when
May comes around you can do the magnetic albums. Another few months
is better than a lifetime left in there.
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I'd also like to know about the iPhoto tagging
you do, Stacy
[ pennyscraps ] Ditto on how much DIGI us hybrid gals do....??
[ artiste ] thanks for the 2 weeks, stacy... my son is getting married
next saturday... need all the time i can get!
[ scrapbookgirl71 ] So glad for the two weeks, since I seem to be
a week behind! My first quarter of pictures should arrive the beginnning
of the week - 800!
[ stacy julian ] So, while 5 years of photos is my recommendation.
I would even more strongly recommend students moving on with lesson
3 after this weekend. How's that? I just posted a bit earlier about
this -- make sure you are starting to digest the ideas in this lesson
right now!
[ artiste ] molly, are you referring to my comment? ;-)
[ Leora ] Digital Triage vs Traditional --I am wondering if there
is such thing as too much tagging. I understand the concept of being
selective with the traditional method of pulling from storage binders,
but am having trouble wrapping my head around the conversion of
that concept to digitial triage.
[ pennyscraps ] oh my lands scrapbookgirl!
[ KimberlyAnn ] Congratulations artiste! That will be so much fun
:)
[ AprilFL ] penny, I've got a solution for what I'm going to try
and do with Kayla's video making me think long and hard yesterday.
I'll post in the coaches board later.
[ nessa b. ] I'm with you just jeani- wish I had known then what
I know now about digital pics and taggging and all!
[ vanessa23 ] I am finding the criteria for highlights super challenging.
I barely scrapbook these days so printing pictures that I would
likely scrapbook is a tough one. I don't want to end up with a legacy
of printed but not scrapbooked photos.
[ pennyscraps ] The 100 years video? That WAS CERTAINLY motivating.
I'll watch the boards then April.
[ stacy julian ] So, with digital tagging -- I don't do a lot. In
fact, I've set aside time today to see if I can learn smart albums
and finish up my fall 2009 highlights -- it's almost March 2010
(yikes) I have not been using the shortcuts in iPhoto like I should
and I know I need to learn.
[ just jeani ] wish I could be working in Picasa while hearing Kayla's
instructions. I so need my hand held for this tagging stuff
[ twynard ] So sad I have to leave but I am hosting a 7 hour crop
n stamp at our church. I am looking forward to creating - bridal
shower invites this time, but just to put something on paper is
exciting. Have a great time chatting. Tammy
[ Molly ] artiste - Yes, I hear that "as soon as"
comment all the time and wanted Stacy's take on it :D)
[ artiste ] thanks kimberlyann
[ Brenda in Sunny So Cal ] "Vanessa23:<br />
But wouldn't your family enjoy also the pictures? Except for a baby
album. I only have pictures from my family and I still cherish them
all. I beleive if I was just given a hard drive with files, my family
wouldn't even go trough them so they might appreciate your favorite
pictures."
[ scrapbookgirl71 ] In my defense, pennyscraps, we took a cruise
and experienced our first blizzard. Those really are the best of
the best. I promise!
[ Kitty ] "So Stacy,<br />
just to confirm, it's not really necessary to tag the photos once
in the chronological smart albums to continue on with this system?
I don't want to add more steps than necessary since I'm already
a little overwhelmed.<br />
Kitty"
[ just jeani ] I'm going to the King Tut exhibit today and I'm already
thinking about the photos I want to take [and those i won't bother
with] in order to have a more meaningful layout and not just a catagaloque
of photos - all this sorting has made me so much more selective
and aware
[ stacy julian ] vanessa23 -- it's OK to overprint for a year or
two, just until you get a handle on the flow of your LOM. It's also
OK to make decisions right now for how you'd like to use and share
your photos. If you know you want to make a photobook for each vacation
-- don't print your vacation photos. Perhaps print just one or two
for your category drawers. Does this help? You don't have to scrapbook
very often -- pages will accumulate and you will someday soon have
a wonderful library of your BEST pictures and memories!
[ vanessa23 ] @Brenda in Sunny So Cal - I know that you're right
but I just am struggling with the volume of photos. Wishing I had
thought to purge the junk shots as I went so it wouldn't feel so
overwhelming.
[ pennyscraps ] @scrapbook girl - no prob - I think trip pix are
kinda' outside the realm of normal. ;-)
[ Alexandra Mathias ] Just Jeani: I am the same. I am thinking more
about the pics I am taking and also deleted a lot of really bad
ones, that I would have kept before.
[ Leora ] I am an overprinter. Now, looking through my Storage Binders,
I think I will be better at being more selective.
[ nonnysbooks ] Over the years I've not been as much of a camera
hound as some of the others, so I don't have the volume of pictures,
but have still narrowed down a lot..."photo storage binder"
will have approximately 500 pics in it by the end of the day.....for
the triage I'm thinking I should be aiming for about 10%, is that
about right?
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I am a no-printer, so far....so I am starting
slowly to adapt to this new system.
[ MonicaMcNeill ] Hello :) We have soccer soon but wanted to hop
on while I can!!
[ stacy julian ] just jeani - YES! I think this is one of the most
valuable outcomes of LOM. You become more aware of which photos
will be meaningful and which you don't even need to take. I still
(quite often) overshoot, but I am getting really good at deleting
pictures right after uploading!
[ Molly ] "Tagging Issues - I've listened to Kayla's tutorials
for Photoshop's Smart Album feature and Basic Keywording TWICE.
First, Kayla is a genius!!<br />
<br />
Second, those two steps create soooo much information per photo
that I've found tagging has been reduced dramatically."
[ Leora ] Monica, have fun at soccer today!!!
[ Brenda in Sunny So Cal ] Vanessa23- That was the hardest part
for me last year, getting rid of photos... Just set yuor timer for
30 min. in front of the computer, go trough a photo folder and start
with the blury beyond recognition shots, this is the easiest step
to start this on....
[ MonicaMcNeill ] Leora we actually have sunshine today so I'm excited
:)
[ vanessa23 ] My first quarter of 2010 looks amazing since I have
been uploading and deleting as I go :) I guess I can't just work
with those :)
[ Leora ] Thanks Molly. Maybe I should listen to that even though
I am using a different organizational software.
[ MonicaMcNeill ] Just Jeani that is GREAT!!
[ stacy julian ] You really do not want more than 10% of your photos
in your category drawers. This is why I've limited you to 100 this
week -- pretty please approach triage carefully and thoughtfully.
Take it slow and you'll be much better off!
[ Kitty ] Thanks Molly
[ Alexandra Mathias ] That's what I was just thinking too, Leora.
I use iphoto, but maybe I should listen to the other audios too.
[ italgal ] Stacy, I have a Q. about pulling photos for the category
drawers. Should we consciously be trying to pull photos for all
4 categories...or just pull photos randomly, and see where it takes
us?
[ MonicaMcNeill ] Leora - I am too & I continue to work
on it & get better with time :)
[ JeriP ] For my digi photos...would it be helpful to use tags in
the software just as I will have index tabs in my category drawers.
Or would it overburden the system to have all of the places and
things as well as the individuals?
[ vanessa23 ] I am lucky that I don't have a problem with deleting,
I just find the back and forth trying to find the best shot out
of 40 brain numbing. I am never using the burst feature on my camera
again :)
[ Kitty ] A question about purchasing photo albums? For our Us albums,
should we purchase one for each person right now, or just one for
"Us?"
[ just jeani ] I had a lot of photos left over after completely
layouts. Many were too good to toss so I've now purged them and
used many to begin my category drawers. So far this approach is
working well as I'm already seeing connections and 'new layouts'
coming into being.
[ Brenda in Sunny So Cal ] Vaness23- That's a great start! It also
helps to work backwards, then go to the 4th quarter of 2009.
[ stacy julian ] vanessa23 -- sure you can. You can absolutely work
with your most recent photos. Print them and get them in storage
binders! Even though I recommend highlights folders that are 3 months
worth of photos -- you can still print at the end of each month
if you want!
[ MonicaMcNeill ] italgal - I would just pull & see where
it takes you :)
[ nessa b. ] "Molly-re:tagging issues. do you happen to know
if that is lesson with a transcript? <br />
I printed out one of her other ones and it was a BIG help!"
[ MonicaMcNeill ] JeriP are you a paper or digital scrapper?
[ stacy julian ] italgal, this week I just want you to pull photos
randomly. Really focus on look at each photo and asking yourself
how else could this photo be used to tell or support another story.
We'll do a more specific triage exercise in lesson 4 -- make sense?
[ vanessa23 ] I am actually done 2003-2010, I was just joking about
only using 2010. I just need to do the highlights now but I need
to get them into PhotoElements first. I didn't want to complicate
my purging/sorting by throwing in a new program plus it runs so
slow on my very basic laptop.
[ scrapbookgirl71 ] Stacy - thanks for the explanation in the audio
about pulling just a couple of photos from each event for the categories.
It really made sense to me and helped me wrapped my brain around
the triage concept.
[ Leora ] After working with this system for a year, it is AMAZING
to know where my pictures are and also to find surprises that I
didn't remember!
[ JeriP ] I have old film photos but all digital now.
[ Molly ] "JeriP - I find it too easy to "over tag"
the digi photos. When you have only one physical photo in front
of you it can only go in one category (Us, People, Places, Things).
In the digi world you could easily tag one photo for all four categories
which defeats the purpose. <br />
<br />
Just recently, when I sort my digi photos (and I tag my less than
10%) I pretend it's a physical photo and I ask myself, "If
this was a physical photo, what category would I MOST want to put
it in?" This mentality has really helped."
[ MonicaMcNeill ] just jeani - I also share my pics with others
when I purge. I have ziplocks w/peoples names on them &
then either mail or give next time I see them. Someone should benefit
from my printing :)
[ artiste ] is this a good example of a triage? ... pics of each
of my daughters, myself and my mother at age 25? (with journaling,
of course)
[ pennyscraps ] So are ya'll saying that you TRIAGE your digi photos
IN the computer AND INTO a drawer??
[ JeriP ] Thank you Molly.
[ Alexandra Mathias ] artiste: that sounds like a wonderful page
: )
[ stacy julian ] scrapbookgirl71 -- you're welcome! I just post
to the message board that you want to make sure you aren't putting
'groups' of photos in your category drawers. These drawers are not
for storing photos together that you know you want to scrapbook.
You will eventually find groups of photos you can scrapbook together,
but don't use them to store groups of photos -- remember this!
[ Alexandra Mathias ] Molly: thanks for the explanation on "over-tagging"...that
was super helpful.
[ Leora ] I am assigning Keywords to Categories rather than pictures.
It is a conceptual stretch for sure.
[ Brenda in Sunny So Cal ] I also give out overprints to friends
and family...
[ MonicaMcNeill ] pennyscraps - I do not. Since I paper scrap I
only triage into category my physical photos.
[ stacy julian ] pennyscraps -- don't worry too much about digital
triage right now. really!
[ just jeani ] monica, great idea to share photos. In my family
that would mean everyone has a zip loc bag and that's where they'd
stay. I am the one and only scrapper, historian.
[ artiste ] thanks alex...i'm excited to do it
[ pennyscraps ] Oh, GOOD! I wasn't wanting to add another element!
whew!
[ vanessa23 ] Those of you who are LOM alum do you automatically
print everything 4x6 or do you get a mix to give you options. I
think this is a big thing holding me back.
[ Molly ] artiste - that's awesome!!
[ scrapbookgirl71 ] I will remember, Stacy! Thanks!
[ Leora ] I am good about making piles of pics to give away...but
i am very back about actually delivering them. Shame on me!
[ MonicaMcNeill ] just jeani- no one else really scraps or is a
historian in my family but they enjoy looking & putting
in photo albums :)
[ Brenda in Sunny So Cal ] "just jeani-<br />
I am also the only scrapper in the family but I have still yet to
meet someone who does not scrap and does not display a photo I given
to them (even the random sports shots to other parents)"
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I feel the same, as I used to be a "print
right before I scrap"-printer and did most of my own printing
of pix.
[ Leora ] I print 4x6. For awhile I was printing more enlargements,
but now I wait and see on those because I am never really sure what
size I will want.
[ MonicaMcNeill ] vanessa23 - I print all 4x6 & then if
i LOVE something I print either 5x7 or 8x10 sometimes. If I find
I want something smaller than 4x6 I print at home.
[ stacy julian ] "artiste,<br />
If you have these pictures already (you, mother and daughter at
25) then I would make the layout. But, yes ... these are the kinds
of photos/connections that can emerge from effective triage into
category drawers."
[ annt ] OK, so when I print a group of pictures that go together,
and I know I'm going to put them together on a page, where do I
put those in a drawer?
[ vanessa23 ] I don't get physical prints from her but my sister
shares all her digital photos and I love them since she is an awesome
photographer. Shhhsh - don't tell her that I delete 90% of the photos
that she shares of my nephew though.
[ nessa b. ] WOW Molly- your post to JeriP really makes me stop
and think!
[ Molly ] I triage in both worlds - physical and digital. I'm still
trying to find a good balance between the two.
[ ajohnson ] Vanessa - as an alumni, i still just print 4xa6 and
then print the 5x7 or 8x10 at home.
[ AprilFL ] I only print 4x6 now. I used to do a handful of 5x7s
and even have done some wallets, but find it much simpler to just
print 4x6 and print different sizes at home when needed.
[ MonicaMcNeill ] annt, that would go in your storage binder, the
set would not go in a drawer
[ Alexandra Mathias ] annt: I would store these in a page protector
in a file for pages to "glue" together.
[ sleepyhead ] I'm triaging in both worlds two, trying to get used
to both at the same time - I think I can see the light at the end
of the tunnel now
[ stacy julian ] "Vanessa,<br />
If you know you want to scrapbook photos, then print them in a variety
of sizes. If you're printing the best photos from a birthday party,
you can totally order a 5x7 of the bday child and then order the
prints of each guest as wallets. You don't have to know exactly
how you will design the page, but you can totally prioritize the
photos by size and have them printed that way. Does that help?"
[ artiste ] stacy... then if i find the pics of my daughters/mother/me
do i pull them and put them in the category file? together? i need
clarification
[ MonicaMcNeill ] vanessa23 that is hilarious!! I just shared soccer
pics w/parents & didn't give them the indv. shots of my
son but when i triaged into my highlight folders those are the only
ones that made it :)
[ AprilFL ] annt, I would make a note on the layout you want to
create (on a running list or in some form of inspiration binder)
and make sure to note what images you're thinking of using.
[ pennyscraps ] I find personally, too, that when you order and
are focusing on a smaller set time period, it IS EASIER to think
about sizes in these small spurts....it has helped me to order by
quarter....
[ just jeani ] i print enlargements along with my 4x6 orders, but
I always get a 4x6 of the enlargement as well. Never know how it
might be used later. I look at my sets of photos carefully before
printing and decide which one[s] would be effective as enlargements.
sometimes the layout concept doesn't pan out and i've got a great
photo to frame or 'gift away'.
[ artiste ] yeah, same question as annt
[ annt ] Monica,thanks...so the category drawers will be only for
single photos...no groups...groups to straight from binder to be
scapped? Because I do a lot of 2-3 related picture-layouts, all
snapped in one sitting...just making sure I understand...these would
stay in the binders...
[ sleepyhead ] I think I finally get the difference between SB and
category drawers (physical and virtual) - so I leave the 'to be
scrapbooked' event type pics in groups in the SB and just take one
pic to move to a category drawer - am I on the right track here?
[ MonicaMcNeill ] alexandra - be careful of pulling pictures out
to scrap a layout, i've found they got lost/forgotten if they are
not in my storage binders. you can always put a sticky in your storage
binder reminding you.
[ ajohnson ] AprilFL - this is where I get stuck, (OCD coming out).
Do you just use a plain piece of paper to note in your inspiration
binder or do you have a form? ~Ann
[ vanessa23 ] @annt I think that the category drawers are to make
connections not for photos that are already connected because they
are part of the same event.
[ MonicaMcNeill ] annt - you've got it ;)
[ AprilFL ] ajohnson, I have a business card holder and I have scrap
cs that I use. No form at all; just info on my thoughts. a topic,
in what manner (mini book, layout), and on the back, journaling
notes and ideas for photos.
[ MonicaMcNeill ] sleepyhead - you've got it ;)
[ annt ] Thanks, Vanessa23 and Monica...big puzzle piece just clicked!
[ Alexandra Mathias ] Monica: I use a 12x12 storage binder, so that's
were I would keep them together in a page protector instead the
divided page protector.
[ sleepyhead ] yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
[ pennyscraps ] April what is a "scrap cs"?
[ stacy julian ] artiste, I think you are actually getting too far
ahead. This week is just about practicing your 'storytelling' eye
-- look for pictures that have the ability to tell another story
or make a connection. Focus on filling in your lists -- they are
super-important and we will be using them in lesson 4 to fine tune
your personal categories. Don't try to start imagining pages just
yet -- sorry, I probably confused you with my last answer.
[ sleepyhead ] cs = cardstock
[ AprilFL ] scrap cardstock . . . I just cut to fit into the binder.
[ Molly ] "sleepyhead - You got it!!<br />
Storage Binders => Groups of photos to be scrapped.<br
/>
Category Drawers => The one favorite photo that tells a different
story but you don't know what that will be just yet :D)"
[ MonicaMcNeill ] alexandra - so is the 12x12 storage binder what
you are using for your highlight folders?
[ ajohnson ] Thanks April - I am just trying to get some sort of
system to keep everything moving. I feel like I am missing so many
stories because of the feeling of being disorganized.
[ nonnysbooks ] I've been keeping two stacks of notecards handy....3x5
(that go into a file box) for inspirations for potential themes
for layouts; and 4x6 cards that are slipping into the SB for snippets
of stories or memories that are specific to the photos, that I don't
want to forget.
[ Alexandra Mathias ] yep
[ stacy julian ] Great and succinct definition of binders vs. drawers
Molly!
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I use all 12x12 WRMK albums
[ pennyscraps ] April that is a good idea....I am wondering how
to keep up with my thoughts....
[ vanessa23 ] I write a blog to link pictures with stories.
[ pennyscraps ] Index cards are a good idea Nonny
[ Alexandra Mathias ] So printed pics that will go on a layout together
can go in a 12x12 sheet protector (if I want to)
[ annt ] So, when I get ready to scrapbook, I will cruise through
BOTH my storage binders and my category drawers to find my inspiration.
Right? The category drawers will help me see connections that I
would not have made if things were laid out simply in my binders.
[ stacy julian ] vanessa23 -- love that you are using your blog
in this way!
[ MonicaMcNeill ] then that might work, I had 12x12 project file
in a CM sorter box thing for a weekend retreat & they went
forgotten after the retreat....I ended up pulling them all out &
back into my storage binders.
[ AprilFL ] go take a peek at the blog post from a week or so ago
that I did . . . it had a few pics. I can post more or explain better
if need be. Just ask on the boards later.
[ stacy julian ] annt - yep!
[ Alexandra Mathias ] Monica: then wen I go to a crop I can either
use the "prepared" pics in the page protector
or pull other pics from the divided protectors.
[ just jeani ] I LOVE post it notes. As I'm putting photos into
SB (or completing a layout) I will jot down a note about extra photos,
where to look for the enlargements, whether or not journaling info
is done [and waiting on the computer]. I often journal about an
event long before it's scrapped. Emotions and memories are fresh
that way.
[ MonicaMcNeill ] alexandra - if they are inserted into your storage
binders then i think maybe yes :)
[ sleepyhead ] just jeani - i love how organized you are with your
journaling!
[ Alexandra Mathias ] Monica: :-), thanks !
[ artiste ] thanks stacy... so are the category drawers intended
to PRODUCE inspiration rather than to implement a previous inspiration?
(hope that makes sense)
[ MonicaMcNeill ] annt - you've got it :)
[ stacy julian ] "Alexandra,<br />
Be super careful moving photos you want to scrap to 12x12 protectors.
I'm not a big fan of page planning -- I will explain in a coming
lesson. I would not pre-plan more than 3 pages at a time."
[ vanessa23 ] I think I like the idea of using all WRMK 12x12 albums.
And dh is doing a state side trip to our PO Box soon so I can get
them cheaper than $40 that they are at the LSS
[ AprilFL ] artiste, they can work both ways
[ annt ] Thanks for helping me wrap my mind around this, ladies!
[ stacy julian ] I would rather have you make notes about a page
idea on a sticky note and place it next to photos in a storage binder,
than have you move photos to a blank protector. We really want to
keep our photos visable and available in our binders.
[ Brenda in Sunny So Cal ] Vanessa23- if you have a PO Box here,
you can order them to Rizcamera they are 19.99 ususally free ship
over $100
[ AprilFL ] you could be inspired by something someone said and
you want to find a picture about it (or the person) and go to category
drawers - OR you could browse through category drawers and go "wow,
look at that"
[ Molly ] Just Jeani - I love post-it notes too!
[ MonicaMcNeill ] alexandra - yes :) i've found taking a storage
binder or two is better for me, i lose the pressure of feeling like
i have to get "X" layouts done, i just scrap what
screams at me from my binder. BUT i mainly scrap at home b/c I know
I'm not a good "cropper" when i go its for a weekend
so I'm taking everything but the kitchen sink :)
[ Alexandra Mathias ] Stacy: I only do this with event pictures
instead of packing them 3 or 4 deep. My storage binders hold 6 pics
per page (1 deep), so automatically by putting pics in chronologically
I almost have a "scrapbookpage done" right there.
[ Leora ] I keep layout ideas on index cards in my category drawers.
I think that Stacy will talk about this in a future lesson!
[ scrapbunny ] so if we find a connection or layout we want to do
we should do it, not put them in the catagory drawers?
[ Brenda in Sunny So Cal ] Just-Jeanie I love my post its, I have
tons of them and have scrapped more this year because of them.
[ just jeani ] sleepyhead, journaling is actualy my love. there
is just so much more behind some of the photos and my biggest regret
when looking at really old photos is that all people wrote was a
date and sometimes a place. I want to know the story, why someone
was compelled to take that photo. So i just blab away, print on
full size paper and tuck it in behind my layouts. the page itself
gets more of a caption style of journaling
[ Alexandra Mathias ] Vanessa: I got them for under $25 dollars
and had them shipped today to Germany.
[ stacy julian ] "ariste,<br />
yes.nicely said. Category drawers are for planting seeds of future
inspiration, not storing ideas and inspiration you already have
-- that is what storage binders are for! You got it."
[ Scrapbook_Girl ] So if we're digital and we've been rating our
photos 1-2-3 stars, we already have "pulled" the
photos for our category "drawers" . . . so should
we go back and further tag the 2-star photos with category keywords??
Not sure what I should be doing here . . .
[ sleepyhead ] b/c most of the triaging I've done is digital I found
that I actually have to go back and downgrade some of my ratings,
I'm sure I'll get better with time
[ stacy julian ] "scrapbunny,<br />
yes. Either write your connection page idea down or make the page.
Don't store photos to be scrapbooked in your drawers -- I hope I'm
not confusing you here. Again, we are getting too far ahead with
this conversation. Right now focus on your lists and pulling an
intial 100 pictures. Jot down ideas in list form for now, there
is more information on tracking stories coming soon!"
[ vanessa23 ] Stacy is the alumni option still going to be available
for next year. Not trying to self-defeat my efforts but I think
I may only get a portion done this year.
[ sleepyhead ] can't picture a better way to spend my morning, LOM,
my puppy snuggling at my side and a hot cuppa coffee ;-) tfs ladies
[ Lucy :) ] Do you think it's posible for someone to not actually
have *enough* photos to be able to triage successfully? Since I
started scrapping I am so selective about the shots I take that
I now seem to have so few in my binders (my whole collection of
scrap-worthy photos is in 3 not-full binders!)
[ artiste ] yay! thank you stacy :-)
[ vanessa23 ] @sleepyhead - sounds dreamy. I have a whiny 2 year
old who doesn't want to do anything, except whine. Calgon take me
away.
[ scrapbookgirl71 ] The idea of the category drawers is that if
I have story that comes up in my everyday life that I want to scrap
right now (i.e. my son said the cutest thing) then I can scrap it
right now, because I can pull a picture of him from the category
drawers and write the story down even if it wasn't taken when he
said it. Is that right? How freeing!
[ sleepyhead ] Lucy - just my 2 cents - don't limit the number of
pictures you take too much or you could be missing those 3star photo
ops - many in my category drawer are ones I probably wouldn't have
taken and would've missed the personality side of my kids - just
a thought...
[ Leora ] Vanessa, sorry about the whiny 2 year old. I have a son
at exercise class who I need to pick up. I am debating how much
he would mind if I am late...
[ nonnysbooks ] When we finish the chat I'm headed an hour south
to Archivers...they are holding their last copy of PF for me
[ AprilFL ] absolutely scrapbookgirl71!
[ Molly ] Scrapbook _Girl - In the digi world, 1,2 & 3 star
photos are your Storage Binders. I try to tag ONLY 3 Star photos
for Category Drawers, otherwise you'll end up with too many.
[ sleepyhead ] poor Vanessa - never too early to teach him how to
scrapbook - LOL
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I gotta take hubby to the airport in a minute
and then start dinner (over here in Europe : )
[ stacy julian ] "Scrapbook Girl,<br />
You should be focused on your lists and developing your category
keywords. Rating 2 & 3 stars is not triage. Keywords that
reflect your life is triage. I'm still not convinced that you can
triage digitally the same way that you can with physical prints,
but Kayla tells me I'm wrong and so I'll defer to her. I would start
a conversation about this on the digital forum!"
[ sleepyhead ] scrapbookgirl - you just gave me goosebumps!
[ Lucy :) ] sleepyhead - the problem is that I don't have kids,
and very rarely take photos of people. I kinda getto the point of
feeling that there are only *so* many shots of scenery, places,
things etc that you can take ...
[ pennyscraps ] My teenagers are on church retreat. Have house to
myself. Hang in there gals. Every phase of life is rich in its own
right.
[ vanessa23 ] Does anyone mix leather and linen WRMK albums. I love
some of the linen colours but I already have a few of the leather
ones.
[ Scrapbook_Girl ] Molly, Kayla had advised us that 1 star was stuff
to scrapbook, 2 stars for category drawers, and 3 stars for photos
I love
[ artiste ] sounds like you've got it, scrapbookgirl!
[ scrapbunny ] Ok I just had the biggest aha of the 4 yrs in this
class! Thank you Stacy, I have been misusing my catagory drawers,
which has caused me to misuse my storage binders. I got the digi
working correctly but the actual prints wrong
[ just jeani ] so here's my category drawer analogy. When you grocery
shop you menu plan. You buy specific ingredients intending to use
them for a specific meal. But of course there are left over ingredients
cuz you don't need an entire bottle of whatever it is. You keep
them and one day you realize that you now have the ingredients for
something you didn't even plan to cook - but it's simply delicious!!
[ natlhol ] Oh, Pennyscraps, how true! May I quote you?
[ Scrapbook_Girl ] Ok thanks Stacy, I'm a little confused, but I'm
determined to make it work digitally, I have 10 years of digi photos!
[ vanessa23 ] @sleepyhead - funny you say that, I only let him do
crafts on 12x12 paper so that I can file it away in a scrapbook
:)
[ stacy julian ] vanessa23 -- I'd love to see you mix linen and
leather -- cool textures! Go for it.
[ sleepyhead ] just jeani - goosebumps again - wow!
[ Alexandra Mathias ] Vanessa23: I bought black leather and some
linen albums today : ) I feel the same about the colors.
[ stacy julian ] just jeani -- love this analogy.
[ KimberlyAnn ] just jeani - I love that analogy! That happens at
my house :)
[ pennyscraps ] Sure Holly.
[ Cherri :) ] vanessa23, I think I'd use leather ones for special
things like heritage/wedding/baby type albums, just my thoughts
[ artiste ] how fun, nonny! i love that book AND archivers!
[ AprilFL ] just jeani! Amazing analogy! :)
[ stacy julian ] scrapbunny -- really? I'm so glad. you never know
when the Ahas will come that's for sure!
[ vanessa23 ] Love that analogy.
[ scrapbunny ] LOVE that Jeani
[ stacy julian ] "Scrapbook_Girl,<br />
I'm digital challenged (still) and working on that, so please don't
let me confuse you. Kayla will help you!"
[ Molly ] "Scrapbook_Girl - Yes, Kayla does mention that but
that's to help you figure out what to tag them. If you go back and
listen and watch the video you'll see she expands on 1-2-3 star
idea. Until we get to Lesson 4, the 2 and 3 star tags aren't going
to make much sense.<br />
<br />
Stacy is right every body. We're jumping ahead!! Take these next
two weeks to answer those lists!! I know they aren't as much fun
as playing with your photos but you need to shift gears and start
your lists."
[ Cherri :) ] Stacy, you'll laugh at my aha... I've been crazy about
sorting photos because I do many 5x7 and larger prints, the other
day you wrote that you put a note in the storage binder and file
the larger ones, it was a total DUH roadblock that somehow I've
missed! But now I'm putting things in binders like mad!
[ MonicaMcNeill ] Have a great day everyone!! I'm off to get us
ready to leave for soccer. I wonder if he's going to twirl today
like he did in practice on Monday or hustle like he did at the first
game :) I'm hoping for some twirling so I can get some pictures!!
lol
[ artiste ] love it, just jeani!
[ Alexandra Mathias ] About the albums...even though I would love
to have all "matchy" albums in categroy colors
etc....in reality I will end up with different ones for sure. I
don't like all the colors that WRMK leather offers, but want some
in leather that my DS will handle a lot. But I will put tags on
them (like Stacy does for hers with Vol. 1 etc.)...so in the end
it should work out alright.
[ stacy julian ] Yay for you Cherri -- :)
[ Brenda in Sunny So Cal ] Stacy- are there any photos from the
drawers that make it back to storage binders? I am looking at the
pictures I pulled last year and don't feel the same way about them
this year, I pourusly did not look at them for a year until now.
[ nonnysbooks ] My biggest challenge right now is I have SOOOO many
ideas for pages (since I've just started scrapbooking)and only so
much time to devote to the craft. Last year's scrapbooking learning
curve was dedicated to a single special album.
[ annt ] Yes, the email Stacy sent about thinking of the storage
binders like our pantry was an aha for me...keeping the ingredients
in there that I MIGHT use to cook something. Only stuff in my binders
that I might use to scrapbook. And I clean them out periodically
to make room for new stuff...
[ vanessa23 ] Soccer - I'm so jealous. We won't get on the fields
here until the end of May. have fun
[ AprilFL ] bye monica! Have fun :) I have some twirly pics of my
own
[ stacy julian ] "Monica,<br />
I have a serious soccer player and a twirler -- the twirler are
much more fun to photograph! Have fun and thanks for your time!"
[ scrapbunny ] stacy- really I was pulling way too many photos into
the drawers, then I couldn't see them so I didn't realy scrap them.
Digi was easier to see and I had plenty of those pictures so I scrapped
them. Kayla is right that you can have digi category drawers :)
[ Leora ] Sadly, I am off to pic up stranded son. Sending LOM vibes
to all! Scrap Strong!
[ sleepyhead ] I'm with scrapbunny - Stacey, please let us know
when you have your very own AHA moment with digi category drawers
:-)
[ sleepyhead ] oops I spelled your name like mine, sorry Stacy
[ Alexandra Mathias ] Scrapbunny: I also keep "digi"
drawers for the same reason. But I will do printed ones too.
[ AprilFL ] scrapbunny, i guess my question would be, and this is
why I resist digital drawers right now - how can you get them non-chronological
and mix them up? I find a lot of my connections when they're no
longer in chrono order but can just be mixed around o a table?
[ Ciqi ] A simple question: I'm trying to find library albums...
I settled for AC modern, and found three of the colors I wanted,
but I read in the board that they discontinued blueberry. Does anyone
know if they have any dark blue kind now?
[ just jeani ] wondering about this. The US album is immediate family.
but now I'm doing our grandchildren. Are they people we love or
immediate. I know the choice is ultimately mine, but in YOUR world
how would this get 'filed'?
[ stacy julian ] "Brenda,<br />
This is a GREAT question and something I want to address in a podcast.
I'll be working with my own category drawers today, but yes ...
I think you might need to reintroduce pictures from drawers back
into binders if you've put too many in drawers -- I'm NOT sure about
this yet, so hold on."
[ Alexandra Mathias ] AprilFL: I do it by the keywords I assigned
(pre LOM, so they might change as I go ahead with LOM)
[ stacy julian ] Any final questions about lesson 3, lists or your
initial pull/triage?
[ Brenda in Sunny So Cal ] Stacy, I'll hang on tight.
[ sleepyhead ] april - it is SO easy to mix it up with digi - you
just select which type of photos you want to look at - if I'm looking
for just pictures of Grandparents I can just click Grammy &
Summer & pool and I can find all of our cute pool pics with
Grammy
[ stacy julian ] just jeani -- I just addressed this on my forum.
Look over there for a great conversation on this very topic!
[ Brenda in Sunny So Cal ] Thanks to everyone! Off the feed children
[ Scrapbook_Girl ] Molly, I thought I watched all the videos - which
one are you talking about? Pls & ty!
[ AprilFL ] but when you pull up keywords the images themselves
are still in a chronological order . . . by default
[ pennyscraps ] I just want to thank you for inviting us to embrace
all stories of our family and to teach us how to have a fundamental
system that engages us. I will carry on with my lessons, teacher,
I promise. :-)
[ scrapbunny ] april- I use ACDSee and when you click on a tag it
is like pulling the photos from a category and spreading them on
a table
[ Molly ] Print your lists everybody! Get someone in your family
to help answer the questions - it's a lot of fun when you do it
that way!
[ Lucy :) ] Molly - we don't all have people to fill out lists for
us! As someone who is single, with a very small & not close
family, my lists are proving very very short!
[ AprilFL ] and that's completely okay, Lucy!
[ stacy julian ] If you're an alumni and haven't done the lists
in a few years, do them again this year. I did and was amazed at
how things have changed. I got some great responses to the US questions
-- it's amazing what you can learn by simply asking questions!
[ just jeani ] thanks everyone for so generously sharing your efforts
and inspiration. Looking forward to the coming week. This is just
so darn BIG - Stacy is soooo right
[ Alexandra Mathias ] @ AprilFL: couldn't you tell the program to
sort them manually (to get them out of order, if the chronological
aspect is unwanted)???
[ AprilFL ] you will change your photo taking habits I think through
LOM . . . it's time to focus on you a bit more if you're single!
:)
[ Molly ] Lucy - You don't need family to help, have your friends
help you. I found that I came up with more "answers"
when my friends and I were chatting.
[ Cherri :) ] Stacy, I want to thank you for helping us scrapbook
important things and not feel guilty. I'm going to do some pages
today and am excited for the first time in a long time.
[ italgal ] just jeani...I am finding that pics I take of my grandchildren
are actually more precious to me, than (gasp) pictures of my kids!!
For me, the grandkids are DEFINITELY "US". Just
me..
[ stacy julian ] "Lucy,<br />
Don't worry --LOM tools are designed to meet the needs of spectrum
of scrapbookers. Your stories as immensely valuable. Short lists
are still good lists!"
[ Alexandra Mathias ] ok...off to the airport now : ) Thanks Stacy
and fellow coaches and LOMers for this chat. Scrap strong !!! :
)
[ vanessa23 ] @italgal - you're not alone, we're definitely scrap
liver to the parents since we had kids.
[ Molly ] "Scrapbook_Girl - Watch the Digital Workflow video.
I watched it maybe 4 times? and every time I absorbed a different
piece of the digital workflow puzzle. Kayla packed a ton of info
into that video.<br />
<br />
Kayla ROCKS by the way!!!"
[ Lucy :) ] April - I already have 2 1/2 volumes of "Book
of ME" - I am struggling to think of anything else I really
want to scrap about me!!
[ vanessa23 ] I need to watch those digital videos
[ sleepyhead ] ditto - Kayla does ROCK!
[ Scrapbook_Girl ] Thanks, Molly, I figured that's the one. I watched
it once but am watching again lol.
[ scrapbunny ] i am sooooo glad the twins woke me up in time to
chat this morning
[ vanessa23 ] See you ladies later.
[ pennyscraps ] Thanks Coaches and Stacy!
[ Scrapbook_Girl ] Melissa, I set all the chats on the calendar
in my phone so the alarm goes off, lol
[ stacy julian ] "Lucy,<br />
Have you ever visited the Shutter Sisters website? I bet you will
really LOVE the Picture Spring class that Tracy Clark is teaching
-- actually, we will all LOVE it. There are so many cool oppoturnities
to capture our lives and world through photography -- sometimes
you just need ideas!"
[ Lucy :) ] Thanks Stacy - like everything else in the SB world
we single people without big squishy families have to adapt but
I know I can make the LOM principles work for me - but they will
be modified to suit (otherwise my "US" album would
just sit empty on my shelf!!)
[ sleepyhead ] scrapbook-girl I did the same thing - can't miss
a chat!
[ stacy julian ] Thanks everyone for being here -- keep up the good
work!
[ JeriP ] Lucy, Perhaps scrapping quotes or thoughts that resonate
with you along with photos of nature might be of interest.
[ Scrapbook_Girl ] thanks Stacy!
[ AprilFL ] I'm with Stacy! Can't wait for that Picture Spring class.
Tracy's amazing.
[ scrapbunny ] lucy- how about where you live or things you use.
I love the photos/stories I have about the places my grandma visited
and things she used in daily life
[ sleepyhead ] I'm looking forward to other BPS classes too
[ italgal ] ..general digi question. I am using an unsupported photo
organ. software (Creative Memories). Which of the software videos
of Kayla's do you think BEST explains the whole digital organization
process???
[ sleepyhead ] I use PSE and have honestly only viewed those videos
and it totally makes sense from there - probably all of them since
Kayla is so awesome
[ Cherri :) ] I love my BPS classes, it's like going to a scrapbooking
convention in your jammies without paying a babysitter :) and you
get to do the class over and over!!!
[ sleepyhead ] like the analogy Cherri
[ nonnysbooks ] Off to Archivers to get my hands on the PF book....and
a Copic demo...
[ artiste ] thanks everyone. gotta scoot!
[ Molly ] italgal - I would start with the Digital Workflow Video.
You might need to watch it 2-3 times and each time look to see how
you can make one part of her "haystack" work with
the CM software.
[ nessa b. ] have a GREAT day everybody!
[ Lucy :) ] Stacy - yes I've seen the Shutter Sisters Website -
I had considered signing up for the class but honestly atthis time
of year when you are at work during the daylight hours it really
limits your opportunities to take pictures & I don't know
that I would be able to do the assignments (unless they can be photographed
in the dark or by flashlight!) .. I'll look into it again ...
[ sleepyhead ] I find that if I keep going back to previous lessons
and re-read the material, the more it makes sense. It's like the
information has a much deeper meaning than I originally understood
[ Scrapbook_Girl ] as an alumni who got derailed last year but had
printed everything, I find I'm all over the place. trying really
hard to buckle down to each weeks lesson
[ Molly ] Every lesson has tons of information. I encourage you
to reread Lessons 1 & 2 now that we've started 3. It's that
saying, "hindsight is 20/20".
[ Lucy :) ] Cherri - yes, the ability to turn up to class in your
jammies, at midnight, at 6am or even still damp from the shower
with wet hair is great :)
[ sleepyhead ] good for you scrapbook girl
[ Molly ] So who's ready to tackle their lists?
[ sleepyhead ] I think I'll grab my DD and see what she has to add,
she is quite a crafty, mushy little girl!
[ Molly ] This was a great chat today ladies. I love all of my LOM
sisters and I wish you a happy week of list-making, triaging and
storage binder stuffing!!
[ sleepyhead ] {{Molly}}
[ italgal ] gonna try and get something done 2day! FAR BEHIND, with
both DYL and May's new class!!! Ciao, ladies!!
[ Barb in AK ] Is Lesson Three for two weeks or will we be moving
on to Lesson Four this Thursday?
[ Molly ] Lesson 3 is TWO WEEKS but don't let that fool you. There
is stuff do, just like the English History report don't wait until
the night before. Do a little bit every day.
[ Barb in AK ] :-D Thanks Molly
[ sleepyhead ] Have a great day ladies
[ Molly ] Off to eat some breakfast. Have a great day everyone!
and for those over seas - good night!
[ Cherri :) ] Take care everyone! Have a great day of scrapping
[ scrapbunny ] have a great weekend everyone. it's raining here
so i'll be playing with kids not photos today
[ Lucy :) ] Have fun scrapbunny - take some pics for a "what
we do on a rainy day" LO!! :)
