Need some motivation to take your decorations down and dive into a new year of scrapbooking? How about a delightfully fun and productive turn with my sister Darci in Decorate Life?!

If you loved the workshop, Baker's Dozen, then you'll love the new version of Darci's easy and energizing approach to building pages. If you've not yet experienced Baker's Dozen, here's how Darci's workshop works:

1. Start with a fun container. In Decorate Life, this is a box that holds large ornaments.

2. Spend the first five days of class (directed by daily emails) gathering random items from your scrapbooking stash into your container. The daily email will also direct you to find and print a particular type of photo or set of photos.

3. Switch gears from collecting to creating and move into full production mode as Darci challenges you pair your photos and your decorative elements and assemble refreshingly simple pages.

When January is over, you'll have 14 scrapbook pages and an adorable BONUS project to boot. The very best part is how Darci helps you past the hurdle of indecision and makes the whole process feel like a game. You'll walk away with a new, more playful attitude. This along with the interaction and excitement of seeing everyone's totally unique pages in the gallery is absolutely worth the $18.00 registration fee.

To learn more about Decorate Life with Darci, read the class description.
To learn more about Darci, read her blog.

To win a seat in Darci's class, leave a comment and tell us about a favorite ornament or decoration in your home! I'll select a random comment at 9:00pm (pacific time) today.

It was such a joy to read through all of the responses. As I suspected, there are so many memories tied up in our favorite ornaments and decorations.

Our winner is Megan Willis, who posted this comment:

"My favorite Christmas ornament is a Santa in a kayak. I love that ornament. My dad gave it to me years ago and I still have it."

Megan,
Email me (stacy@bigpictureclasses.com) and I'll enroll you in Darci's workshop. As for the rest of you (wink) there's just two days before class begins!

I am just reading this now so I want to post. My favorite decoration in my home is a snowflake wind chime that a very special friend send to me. It has more meaning than I can possibly explain; although, one day I would like to. Thanks so much for the chance to win!

Mine is a hand carved wooden ornament that my eldest brought back from Austria recently, for so many reasons I just love it.

Cute ideas, gals! My fave ornaments are the two that hold pictures of my two daughters when they were 8 and 10. They were both just here celebrating the Christmas holiday, and are now 34 and 36, and my 4 yo granddaughter loved seeing the pictures of Mommy and Auntie Jan!

My favorite holiday decoration is a huge red poinsettia ball in a tall vase I had bought on clearance after Xmas several years ago. It is a sign of Xmas. Thanks for the giveaway!

My favourite ornament is one from my early childhood. It still gets hung on the tree...its a ball with a window looking onto a frozen pond, there is a little person with skates sitting on a snowbank. I tried to capture a neat shot of it during Picture the Holidays, earlier this month. It's fun reading about everyones memories and favourite things!

My favorite ornament is a little pewter Hershey's kiss from my second date with my husband. He k new I loved Christmas, so he took me to Hershey Park for Christmas Candy Lane. We live back down south now, but still take the kids to Christmas Candy Lane every year!

I have two actually; they were a wedding gift. One is a heart and the other is a bluebird of happiness. They are hand-painted wooden ornaments, and I always thought they were such a special gift.

My favourite decoration is the LARGE Christmas stocking my grandmother made for me years ago. It is metallic silver fabric with red velvet trim. It used to have a pompom but my poodle as a teenager got to it. Such fond memories.

I have many favorite ornaments -- probably from collecting them over the last 30 years. But my favorite Christmas decoration is the quilted star square wall hanging my mom made me for Christmas a few years ago. It's red with splashed of green, made of Christmas fabrics, and precious to me because she made it. She no longer quilts because of the arthritis in her hands, but this will be treasured for all my years. I enjoy bringing it out every Christmas and displaying it in my home. Thanks for the opportunity to share and the opportunity to win!

My green pickle! It's my kids favorite they try to find it first.

My favorite decoration is the tree skirt that my mother in law made for us many years ago. I lovingly think of her every year when I get it out.

My favorite decorations are the ones my kids make me in school. I've saved them over the year's and now they hang on a little metal tree on a corner table during the holiday season.

Last year my answer would have been different. But, this year my parents sold my childhood home after 36 years (I am almost 30) and so Christmas looked a little different in their new home. My Mom gave away a lot of decorations, etc. when she cleaned out the house and she gave me a bag of ornaments she sewed when we were little...this year I kept a little Santa from that bag out on my kitchen windowsill. I love it, it reminds me of my childhood and my Mom who always made Christmas so special.

When I was a kid I had a mini stocking type ornament and every year I would add a penny from the current year...somehow after parents divorce and moves I lost track of it or it got thrown out :-( I still love Christmas though and would love a seat in this class!

I have so many favorite ornaments because we collect them when we travel, however one of my favorites is a wedding cake that we purchased the year we were married. Thanks for the chance to win this great class.

My favorite decoration is the advent calendar I made last year. It's bright and glittery....and makes me smile. My son has had a blast opening each door to reveal the day's treat.

Any ornament that my children made is a favorite of mine. Thanks for the chance to win.

One of my favorite decorations are the sugared berry topiaries that my husband and I got our first year we were married. It just isn't the holidays without them.

My favorite decoration is a small silver frame with an ornate cut out design. It is from my favorite cathedral in Europe and it has a black & white photo of my mom when she was in her 20's.

My favorite ornaments are the ones the kids have made, especially if their hand prints or pictures are on them.

My favorite ornament is a little blue mouse I painted when I was a Brownie.
Posted By Jeannie  |  December 27, 2010 at 03:59 PM

My favorite decoration right now is a vintage advent that I made from a kit.
Posted By Marian  |  December 27, 2010 at 03:51 PM

My favorite decoration is the stocking that an aunt made for me the year I was born. It was red velvet with lots of little, tiny toys sewed all over it. Over the years it has become maroon and a bit limp but the little toys are still there and every year when it comes out, many memories of Christmas past come with it. Would love a seat in Darci's class. Thanks

My favourite Christmas ornament - that's too difficult! I have ditched all the matching, pretty decs & now have a tree full of memories - the little rabbit that's older than me, the plastic Santa that came from Grandma when I was about 3, a wooden ornament handcarved by a lovely elderly woodcarver in Germany, the Wedgewood china ornament a close friend gave me and the exquisite embroidered ones Mum made before she died. As for non-Christmas decorations, that's far more difficult - I have only recently moved into my own place after years of renting & moving from place to place - and I'm only just getting straight & feeling able to display ornaments etc, but for now I would have to say a small landscape painting done for me by the husband of my now-deceased best friend
