Stacy's Picks

Stacy is back with us today to share another inspiring member of our community!  Take it away Stacy...

One class that has stood out to me from the launch of the new Big Picture Classes is Aly Dosdall’s Document 2015. Each month, Aly shares a new month-in-review page layout idea along with tips for design or organization or anything that can help us streamline the creative process and make memory keeping easier. This class is a huge solution, because if you follow along, you will have 2015 documented in a very doable way.

So, today I am featuring a page created by Jenn Korin that was based on the Aly’s page layout for March, but … here’s where it gets good. Jenn’s layout doesn’t actually feature photos from last month. In fact, when I reached out to Jenn to ask her about her page, she wrote back that she was “cheating” a bit. She explained, “I am working on an album of our 2013 road trip now and Aly’s multiple photo layouts work really well for travel photos, so I’ve been using the inspiration, but not meeting the goals of the task, I'm afraid.” Wait a second; Jenn’s use of Aly’s guidance is exactly what BPC is about! We are a community of sharing, where we applaud personal adaptations. Our collective goal is to tell stories and enjoy the process, so I’m 100% delighted that Jenn could see beyond the class description and use Aly’s class in this way! Which class projects can you see yourself using in a way different from how they are presented? Stepping outside the lines in this way will build your confidence and help you do more of what YOU love.

Jenn Korin lives in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She is a wife and mother, teacher, drama club director and active in the children’s ministry at her church. All of these roles require a high degree of craftiness and so Jenn is always involved in some sort of art project. She loves taking pictures and was originally drawn to BPC by the photography classes. Jenn says she loves the new website and the subscription pricing that is allowing her to do so much in such an affordable way. She has been a scrapbooker since 1996—because she says, “I want my family to remember our lives, and that’s true, but I mostly just like to play with paper, let’s be honest!”

Let’s remember Jenn’s awesome example of “cheating” and make something inspired this weekend!

Here’s a little more about Jenn’s roadtrip as depicted in her page above: The photos in the layout are from the third day of our road trip. My husband and I and our two teenagers drove from Pennsylvania to Seattle, then south to San Diego, then back across the country to Pennsylvania! It was a huge adventure, and we crossed so many places off on our "hope to visit someday" list. We had already found our favorite place to stay by day three of the trip, and the photos on this layout document the absolutely beautiful campsite we stayed at in the Black Hills of South Dakota while visiting Mount Rushmore.
