Stacy's Picks

One of the most popular classes at BPC right now is 30-Minute Layouts, taught by busy lady Lilith Eeckels. Lilith is mom to four boys and a full time teacher, so she knows how to keep her creative process speedy. Diane Turner, from Canberra, Australia took Lilith’s experience to heart and whipped up this very stylish page that immediately caught my eye.

I love Diane’s design for it’s simplicity, order and meaning. How could you go wrong with an adorable relationship photo set opposite a cool grid of stamped images and just the right amount of happy yellow? But truly, the best part of Di’s page is the story. In just a few short words, you get a wonderful sense of the bond these sisters share. Diane writes as if she is speaking to her daughters and I especially like how she uses snippets of everyday conversations.

Little sister to a friend: “You should meet my sister, she’s so nice, she is even nicer than me!”

Big sister to little sister: “You don’t need to try and look cute Eliza, you are cute!”

There is so much personality captured in authentic sound bites like these. Next time you’re fussing over what to say in your journaling, remember Diane and let someone else do the talking!

Diane loves the color red and says, “Even my hair is red!” She works with an IT company only 10 minutes from her home and owns two other businesses with her husband and his family. Diane started scrapbooking in 2000. She loves spending time with her family and knows that she is doing important work by documenting their lives through photo books, scrapbooking and Project Life. Right now, Diane’s go-to product seems to be mist, since she is using it on nearly every page she creates, in so many different ways. It’s such an easy way to quickly embellish a page, Diane explains, “All you have to do is pull the spray nozzle out of the bottle, hold it vertically over the page and press down on the nozzle. This leaves a nice, large, perfectly imperfect splat of color!” Diane is enjoying the new BPC, because the membership model means she doesn’t have to register for classes and she gets access to everything at a reasonable price. “I’m even taking classes that I normally would not have tried!”
