Color Love with Jen Chapin

A rainbow of colors against a white background are so effective!  Today, designer Jen Chapin is here with us to share how easy it is to make a fun statement with BRIGHT BOLD colors!

Hello hello! Jen Chapin here, and today I am sharing a layout with you based on my class, Rainbow. Have you checked it out yet? It's full of bright color inspiration so I hope you do! For this layout, I paired a white cardstock die cut with patterned paper in a rainbow of colors.

I first gathered my supplies - white cardstock, patterned paper, embellishments and a die cut title. I decided to cut the title in black to really make it pop. A good thing to keep in mind when doing projects with lots of bright colors - you will want to include plenty of neutrals such as black, white or grey. The neutrals really help to keep the layout grounded and more pleasing to the eye.

I used my Silhouette to cut the grid from white cardstock, then added patterned papers in a ROYGBIV color scheme to the negative spaces. I tried to keep patterns with a small-ish pattern so that it could be seen in the area of the negative.

After placing my patterned papers, I adhered the die cut to my cardstock background. I matted my photo on grey patterned paper and placed on the page, then adding my title. After that it was time to embellish! I had fun collecting items from my stash to coordinate -- buttons, enamel dots, chipboard and fabric to name a few. As you can see, I matched up the color of each embellishment with a coordinating paper, creating a color-blocked look.

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today! I hope you'll try the rainbow technique soon. If you do, please share with us in the BPC gallery - we love to see how you've been inspired!
